Unraveling and Designing Typefaces
21. – 25.08.2023

Whether via graffiti, billboards or store signs, we encounter writing in many forms as we make our way through the city every day. In this workshop, we will learn about different printing techniques, such as screen printing, frottage, and stencil printing, and explore the world of writing while walking around the Reinbeckhallen. In the process, we will test digital writing tools and develop our own typeface images! We will also travel to the Museum für Druckkunst Leipzig, which will allow us to experience for ourselves key developments in the history of printing on historic printing presses.

The workshop will run from 10 AM until 3 PM, starting in the Werkstatt Neue Drucke at the Reinbeckhallen. On Tuesday, August 22nd, we will meet at the Reinbeckhallen at 8 AM and then make our way to Leipzig. Delicious lunches, drinks, and snacks will be provided every day, so participants will be well nourished and can focus on being creative!

On Friday, August 25th, participants will present their work in the Project Room of the Stiftung Reinbeckhallen starting at 1 PM.
