Marco Zebrowski: minus plus nature

10.04. – 12.05.2025

Growing up in a small town in southern Germany, industrial designer and painter Marco Zebrowski has always felt deeply connected to nature—especially to the forest, his greatest source of inspiration. The artist, who currently lives and works in Berlin, primarily works with natural materials, such as wood, glass, and marble. Fascinated by their unique properties—their possibilities as well as their limitations—he creates diverse design objects. Ranging from shelves to chairs, Zebrowski’s objects are not only visually striking, they are also sustainable, comfortable, and functional.

With a meticulous eye for detail, Zebrowski merges artistry and creativity, placing a strong emphasis on colour and form. His artistic approach has been shaped by traditional craftsmanship across cultures and time periods as well as by his experiences in Japan, Switzerland, and France. His work invites viewers to rediscover the beauty of simplicity, to slow down, and to engage more mindfully with the world around them. In a poetic way, they stand in contrast to today’s fast-paced, consumer-driven society.

Unlike his industrial designs, Zebrowski’s paintings, also included in this exhibition, are free from conventions and rules. They are an outlet for his emotions and, at the same time, a reflection of his endless curiosity. These emotionally-charged works, created on glass, wood, and found materials, depict landscapes and natural elements.

Marco Zebrowski: minus plus nature features work made over the past year and takes place in the Project Room.

Marco Zebrowski studied industrial design at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Germany between 2014 and 2020. His studies were complemented by courses on design in Japan and Switzerland. Zebrowski has participated in several group exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. Marco Zebrowski: minus plus nature marks his first solo exhibition.
