Seemingly Writing. Deciphering and Designing Letterforms.
Why do we print letters? Because there’s something inside them: meaning and form!
In this holiday workshop, we’ll experiment with letterpress and screen printing, trying out various writing and printing techniques. We’ll create new writing tools and test out unusual writing surfaces. In doing so, we’ll design new characters—mirroring ourselves and our times. A day trip to the Museum für Druckkunst Leipzig will also give us hands-on experience with key developments from 550 years of printing history on historic presses.
The workshop starts daily at 10 AM and ends at 3 PM. The meeting point is the Werkstatt Neue Drucke at the Reinbeckhallen.
Delicious lunches, drinks, and snacks will be provided, ensuring participants are nourished.
On Friday at 1 PM, participants will present their creations in an exhibition in the Stiftung Reinbeckhallen’s Project Room.
